PhilHealth and GSDH unite to Deliver Lifesaving Z Benefits for Cancer, Peritoneal Dialysis, and Rehab Patients

General Santos City — The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) and General Santos Doctors Hospital (GSDH) formally sealed a partnership today, May 29, 2025, through the signing of a contract for the implementation of the Z Benefit Package, aimed at providing comprehensive healthcare support to patients battling breast cancer, those requiring peritoneal dialysis, and individuals in need of physical medicine and rehabilitation services.

 

The ceremonial contract signing was held at the General Santos Doctors Hospital Multipurpose Hall. It was attended by officials from PhilHealth Region XII, as well as executives and medical specialists from GSDH.

This milestone collaboration reinforces PhilHealth’s commitment to making quality healthcare more accessible, particularly for serious and long-term conditions classified under the Z Benefit Package—medical cases considered financially and medically catastrophic.

Under this agreement, eligible PhilHealth members and their dependents will now have access to:

                         
● Z Benefit Package for Breast Cancer (Stage 0 to IIIB): covering diagnostics, surgery, chemotherapy and supportive care;

                         ●  Peritoneal Dialysis Z Package: designed to reduce the Financial burden of patients requiring regular dialysis treatment.

                         ● Z Benefit for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services; enabling improved recovery and functionality for patients with physical disabilities or                                impairments.

Dr. Daniel G. Yap, President and Medical Director of General Santos Doctors Hospital, expressed strong support for the partnership.

The newly signed contract takes effect immediately, and patients may begin availing of the covered benefits following proper eligibility and pre-authorization processes.

General Santos Doctors Hospital is now officially a DOH Level 3 Accredited Hospital!

General Santos City Philippines – June 04, 2025 – General Santos Doctors Hospital (GSDH) proudly announces its official accreditation as a Department of Health  (DOH) Level 3 Hospital, marking a significant milestone in it’s continuing pursuit of excellence in healthcare delivery.

This recognition by the Department of Health affirms GSDH’S unwavering commitment to providing advanced, comprehensive, and specialized medical services to the people General Santos City and the entire SOCCSKARGEN Region (Region XII).

GSDH Prepares to Become the First Transplant Center in Region 12

General Santos City, March 21, 2025 – The General Santos Doctors Hospital (GSDH), in collaboration with the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI), has launched a Transplant Caravan—an innovative initiative aimed at raising awareness about organ donation. This effort marks a significant step toward GSDH becoming the first transplant center in Region 12.

Dr. Daniel G. Yap, GSDH President and Medical Director, highlighted the urgency of this initiative: “We are all aware of the growing burden of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in Region 12 and the immense challenges faced by patients who must undergo lifelong dialysis, often at great emotional, physical, and financial cost.”

He further expressed his long-held vision for the hospital: “For quite some time, this reality has driven me to dream of bringing kidney transplantation to General Santos Doctors Hospital.”

The NKTI, under the leadership of Executive Director Dr. Rose Marie Rosete-Liquete, will play a crucial role in the initiative by providing expert guidance and logistical support to ensure its success. General Santos City, Philippines – February 14, 2025 – General Santos Doctors Hospital (GSDH) proudly announces the inauguration of the first dedicated Women’s Center in Region 12, a groundbreaking facility designed to provide comprehensive healthcare services tailored to the needs of women at every stage of life.

This state-of-the-art center represents a significant milestone in women’s healthcare, offering specialized medical services, including obstetrics and gynecology and, breast and cervical cancer screening. Equipped with cutting-edge diagnostic technology such as the 50° Wide Angle Tomosynthesis Mammogram Mammomat Revelation, the facility ensures that women receive the highest standard of medical care in a comfortable and supportive environment.
