From a vision to provide excellent healthcare to the people in this region, General Santos Doctors Hospital was founded in December 8, 1970. With the leadership of our founders, Dr. Venancio Yap, Dr. Sergio Demontano Sr, Dr. Genaro Valencia, Dr. Mariano Chu, and Dr. Celso Sta. Ana, GSDH became a pioneering modern hospital in General Santos City.

What started as a 48-bed secondary hospital years ago has now grown into a 280-bed DOH licensed, PHIC-accredited tertiary level 2 hospital equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities that are at par with first-rate hospitals in other major cities.
In spite of the medical innovations, GSDH did not lose sight of its advocacy of “Healing through Compassionate Caring”. With the help of the St. Paul of Chartres Sister, GSDH was built as a Christ-like institution that gives importance to providing compassionate care to the sick and the needy.
